Broken plans on a Friday night
The cold post-Christmas keeps me in
Wearing home clothes for the home life
I microwave dinner and grab a cold drink
Watching TV here alone
Unusual darkness with clattering sounds
Like shattered pieces of crackling bones
Clashing sounds I hear all around
Some rain and ice falls gently
Soothing is the darkened blue sky
My contemplations now tempt me
To think who am I? Who am I?
I’m looking but watching no more
The smoke from my tray dissipates
My mind and soul I must explore
Perspectives now seem to levitate
Time ceases to exist
Happening in a blink
I take me whole and wholly insist
My soul breaks free to think
To find me would be
The greatest discovery
Not through your eyes but mine
Is where I will find…
What I am looking for
The key to open the door
To more and more
Truth that can’t be ignored
Through not the eyes of my body
They only see what is seen
But the eyes of my soul
That sees through the unseen me
To find me would be
The greatest discovery
Not through your eyes but mine
Is where I will find
Love, the meaning of life
I know who you are
I’ve known you for so long
This is gonna’ be hard
So many ways to go wrong
But I can’t avoid what’s going on
I’ve heard you laugh a million times
I can’t get enough of your smile
I’ve grown to love our talks at night
Even if it’s for a little while
You turn my heart into a child
I’ve seen you through many stages
Changes, so many changes
But I’m still here, and so are you
I’m so comfortable here with you
My innocence is what makes sense
Of everything that’s happening
I simply
Like you
If you don’t feel the same
My feelings will remain
I’ll still be me
You’ll still be you
That’s the beautiful part about it
Don’t matter what’s said by the Pharisees
I believe in Jesus, the King of me
Higher politics may be in control
But not of my soul
He showed you and showed me
That we are one body
The ones who reject others from Loving
Have pride worth nothing
They think they know what to do
They tell us what to say
I only listen to God’s Truth
Revealed in peace when I pray
Don’t matter what’s said by the Pharisees
I believe in Jesus, the King of me
Higher politics may be in control
But not of my soul
God’s Love has no boundaries
It belongs to everyone
No one has the power to stop me
May His Will be done
Lord, simply Love
Love through me
Don’t matter what’s said by the Pharisees
I believe in Jesus, the King of me
Higher politics may be in control
But not of my soul
Lord, simply Love
Love through me
I am yours
Time does not define
Love beyond life
Life without Love
Is undefined
Beyond life is eternity
I don’t know how
I can only live for the moment
I can only live for now
Now is a precious gift
It is where I should live
Now offers a way
In exchange for change
Time does not define
Love beyond life
Life without Love
Is undefined
I’m changing
The first time we met
Awkwardness filled the air
But something was there
Something worth discovering
Days, weeks, and months passed
From online conversations
To vocal communications
To lunch on free occasions
We became friends
A bond that bends
But never breaks
Worth not found in mistakes
I greeted you years later
Nothing between us changed
Though life may be rearranged
You’re still you, I’m still me
Days, weeks, and months passed
With scarce words in-between
No need for words of plenty
To say what you mean to me
True friendship is never measured
It’s made, then stored in the heart
No matter how long we’re apart
A friend depends on keeping start
As long as we are who we are
There is no such thing as too far
